I decided to get my feet wet with satellite radio and picked up the cheapest XM radio I could get. That turned out to be the Roady2 at $50 from the local Best Buy.

So far, I like it! Great selection of music. The only “problem” is that I like listening to a lot of news and talk and it seems to give a decent selection, but no Tammy Bruce! I can hear her only on Saturdays on Los Angeles radio. Her Monday-Friday show is on Sirius. If XM could get Tammy, I would be perfectly happy. The other solution would be for me to hook up my Digicipher receiver and get her off the Talk Radio Network stream on Echostar 9/Intelset Americas 13 which is kind of a pain and not very portable.

So, do I start subscribing to Sirius too or subscribe to the stream at TRN’s website so I can listen to Tammy?

Frisbee is a Norton Ghost like program for Unix/Linux. Very nice little program. Support multicasting and intelligently compressing ntfs, ext2, vfat, and ffs filesystems.

I would eventually like to get this scripted out a bit more. Not going as far as emulab.net… something a bit smaller scale.

First paycheck at the new employer. Consulting is fun, really fun, but a regular paycheck is hard to beat sometimes. I’m working with some cool people that I worked with during the .com days.

DSL line is now fixed. Verizon has some really great tech people. There seemed to be a small glitch in the provisioning equipment that was a little difficult to find. They tech mentioned that the old DSL modem I have is still one of the more reliable models. Good old Orkit!

Alpha re-configuration is almost done. It’s amazing how much stuff runs on that box. I really should get some more RAM for it though. 256MB is a little starved with all the programs running on it.
